Holy Baptism

Baptism is God's gift of new life in Jesus Christ to those who believe.

Adults are baptized and confirmed by the Bishop after a course of instruction. Please enquire about this from      Fr Roger or Fr Bernard.

The Sacrament of the Baptism of children is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month - at the 10.00 a.m. Parish Eucharist, at 11.30 a.m. and at 4.00 p.m. by turn.

Children of Christian parents are baptized on the basis of their parents' faith. Baptism of children requires a real commitment on the part of parents to 'draw them by your example into the community of faith and walk with them in the way of Christ' and 'to help them take their place within the life and worship of Christ's Church'.

Children are normally brought for Baptism in the parish where their parents live and/or worship - please see below for the parish boundaries . If you do not live in this parish Fr Roger will ask you to show a special connection to S.James's and to contact your own priest for good will.

To enquire about having your child baptized at S.James's please ring

                                                                Fr Roger [01903 753212]

                                                               Fr Bernard [01903 767077]

or Mrs. Joy Wood [01903 753099]

A member of our Baptism Team will arrange to visit you, and you will be asked to attend an informal preparation meeting at which the date and time for the baptism will be chosen and other arrangements finalized.
